Providing a quick rundown of available citation management tools and how to access them for the first time (usually for free)

Overview

Find an academic article then download the citation to access it later.  These citation managers will help you keep track of your sources.  The resources below can typically be used for citations exported from our major databases.

Zotero

Requires downloading a free app for desktop or mobile

To create a quick bibliography without the app, use:

RefWorks

Web-based so nothing needs to be downloaded

Easy to search for previously added citations

Provided by same vendor as ProQuest databases, so easy to export/import

NoodleTools

Paid version allows you to save and evaluate sources

EasyBib

Provides an easy way to create and save citations

Can save exported citations if you create account

The free version will require you to view an ad if you create more than one citation

Will organize the citations you create in an alphabetical list

EndNote

Used by professional researchers

More options (and more complicated) than free options

Good for collaborating with other researchers

Offers 30 day free trial
